See us in action
Hello,
Im Dan Blodget, owner of Sub Aquatic Camera Repair Company. In
1989, while working as an X-Ray Technician, I began exploring the insides
of cameras, strobes and lenses. Eventually, I started repairing them
on the side. After five years, the repair business was growing rapidly
and I decided to take the plunge. I quit X-Ray work and have been fixing
underwater photo equipment full time ever since.
My own start in the business was as a serious amateur photographer. Ive
set my cameras aside for a few years, now, but still consider myself
an underwater photographer. My techs are all serious amateurs or working
pro underwater and land photographers; bringing a level of interest and
service not often seen in this business. We have six techs working on
all types and brands of underwater photographic equipment.
Currently we repair all Nikonos cameras from the Calypso to the RS, in
addition to all other brands of underwater cameras and housings. We use
Nikon parts and have new o-rings for the older cameras matching Original
Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications. We own the latest test and
machining equipment to accomplish almost any repair presented and stock
trays and cords for the older cameras. I am proudest of my stock of all
the parts for Nikonos bodies, lenses and strobes. In 1998, I traveled
to England and purchased all remaining Nikonos II and III parts in that
country. I have also been to several shops in the United States, purchasing
their stock of older parts.
I hold free monthly maintenance classes in Monterey, California and travel
statewide to teach as well. I give an intense abridged version of the
class every year at DEMA and other retail SCUBA shows.
If you have gear to sell or dead cameras to dispose of, we offer cash
or swap them towards repairs. We work in conjunction with Backscatter
in Monterey; are a warranty repair shop for Sea & Sea, Nikonos, and
Aquatica; and are a repair shop for D.E.P.P. Insurance Company.
Unlike many shops, we are happy to help with inspections and free estimates
of old and new equipment and can also test and check light meters and
other accessories. This year weve started offering Clean and Check
Services for $15-$35 on any underwater equipment, adding a level of security
to your vacation or assignment.
Finally, I have been collecting instruction manuals for twenty years
and have one of the most complete collections in the country. For a minimal
fee, we will copy any manual in the shop for you.
Thanks for taking the time to look us up. Please feel free to call, email or
fax any questions that you might have. If one of our staff cannot answer
your questions, Ill return your call ASAP, and do my best to help
with your underwater photographic concerns. You can email pictures if
you have any questions that cannot be easily described.
Please share our name or business cards with your friends. We will take
as good care of them as we do you.
Dan
