Broken Old
Style 15mm View Finder?
Call me Dr. Frankenstein.
I can breathe new life into this corpse. The old style viewfinder is somewhat
larger, many would say monstrous, than the new style and produces a brighter
image. Part of its "Herman Munster" presence owes to the support bracket
that extends down behind the camera. This bracket is cast from porous aluminum,
and has a tendency to corrode and eventually break.
In
past days, these viewfinders may have found their way to the landfill graveyard.
But if you bring your broken viewfinder to SubAquatic Camera Repair, I will
cut, mill, and replace parts
resurrecting your broken piece into a working
and easier to use model. One that you can hold above you and shout, "Its
alive, alive!!"
Observe
the photos. You will notice how the resurrected viewfinder mounts onto the camera
exactly like the new model. No grotesque disfigurements! Retaining the clean
form of the original, preventing chop-shop mutations. I cannot add neck bolt
electrodes to these beauties, but do fashion a marvelous tail fin reminiscent
of 1950s SciFi movie rocket ships.
The reconstruction
of your viewfinder will not transform your Nikonos system into a murderous monster,
you into a mad scientist, or myself into a more imaginative writer. But, it
will keep a valuable and cherished piece of equipment viable. At least until
I can create a bride to accompany your creature
Do I add "Heh
heh heh," or is that too campy?
